Lift planning for the University of Zurich (UZH)

At the University of Zurich’s new education and research centre, the “FORUM UZH“the lifts have to move up to 6,000 people a day. When planning the required lift systems, the movement profiles of the various building functions such as lecture theatres, offices, language laboratories, fitness areas and restaurants must be taken into account. The correct layout and dimensioning of the lifts ensures that researchers, students and visitors do not have to wait, but can get to the right place in the building in the shortest possible time.
And this is where SOLTIC came into play. We are involved in the project as lift planners. We ensured the efficient planning and design of the lift systems for this multifunctional university building. Our tasks also included the preparation of the necessary tender documents and the subsequent supervision of the realisation.
About the “FORUM UZH”
The building is being constructed in the heart of Zurich’s city centre opposite the historic main building of the University of Zurich. The architects responsible are Herzog & de Meuron.
We are delighted that FORUM UZH received the building permit in March and that construction will begin at the end of August 2024. Completion is planned for 2029.
At SOLTIC, we are committed to the future. We are therefore proud to be able to contribute to the future viability of Zurich as a university location.
